Thoughts off the Glass

Lent ……. Day Twelve

Lent ……. Day Twelve

“I’m not afraid to suffer for You, I fear only one thing: to keep my own will; so take it, for ‘I choose all’ that You will.” (Story of a Soul, 27)
St. Therese of Lisieux

Are you all in?   It’s not even easy to go “all in” in the game of poker.   Are you willing to go all in while holding a pair of 4’s and pair of 10’s?   I’m not a card shark by any stretch of the imagination, but I know enough that this is probably not the strongest hand to go “all in” on.

We recall in the gospels when a rich young ruler asked Jesus “Good teacher, what shall i do to inherit eternal life?”  (Luke 18:18)  Jesus tells the rich young ruler,  ya need to go “all in”.   The rich young ruler did not get rich by going “all in” all the time.  He made his investments with a keen eye.  Making his fortune by knowing when to keep a steady hand on the  wheel and ready to brake at any time.  Jesus, calls his bluff – “go all in!”  and follow me.   The rich young ruler, folded and walked away.

Can we go “all in”?  Each of us has to answer that question.   Pray about it, pray for the courage and faith to do it.
